Time Lapsed Drawing Video

This video shows the process that Barrett goes through in drawing a female portrait in graphite. The video is time lapsed so that the entire drawing can be viewed from start to finish in just under 2 minutes. The drawing took about 2.5 hours to complete. Barrett used drawing pencils number HB and 2B along with a kneaded eraser and Strathmore drawing paper. The drawing process starts with a block in of the subject with linear lines to establish the overall shape and placement on the page. From there Barrett works from large to small checking proportion and features along the way. Once the contour and features are placed on the page then He blocks in the shadow shapes distinguishing the light from the shadow. Pushing the values and modeling the form get the drawing to a state of completion.
